Adrian Belew is an American guitarist, singer and songwriter, born in Covington, Kentucky, in 1949. He became King Crimson’s singer and second guitarist in 1981, recording albums including Discipline, Beat and Three of a Perfect Pair. His solo catalog includes Lone Rhino and Mr. Music Head, while his recording credits extend to Frank Zappa, David Bowie, Talking Heads and Nine Inch Nails. Frank Zappa recruited Adrian Belew for his touring band in 1977, and David Bowie took him on the Isolar II tour the following year. His long run of concerts with King Crimson began in 1981, followed in 2006 by performances of his solo repertoire with the Adrian Belew Power Trio. In 2024, he revisited the 1980s King Crimson catalog in BEAT, performing with Steve Vai, Tony Levin and Danny Carey.
