Alabama & Exile in Des Moines

Alabama is an American country band formed by cousins Randy Owen, Teddy Gentry and Jeff Cook. Its country-pop and Southern rock sound is heard on songs including “Mountain Music,” “Dixieland Delight,” “Love in the First Degree” and “Song of the South,” as well as the albums Mountain Music and The Closer You Get.... Alabama developed its early live act during a long engagement at The Bowery in Myrtle Beach. In 1982, the band established June Jam, a benefit concert in Fort Payne that became an annual event through the 1990s. The American Farewell Tour ran in 2003 and 2004, and the group returned to headline dates with the Back to the Bowery Tour in 2013. It later marked five decades with the 50th Anniversary Tour, launched in 2019.
