Amira Medunjanin in Herceg Novi

Amira Medunjanin is a Bosnian singer, born in Sarajevo in 1972, whose repertoire centers on sevdalinka, the traditional urban song of Bosnia and Herzegovina. She interprets that music through contemporary acoustic arrangements informed by jazz, and albums including Rosa and Damar established her approach to the form. Amira Medunjanin has performed at WOMAD and Celtic Connections, taking sevdah into major folk and world-music festival programs. Her concert work has also reached halls including the Barbican in London and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. She performs especially often in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia.
