Artist
Apocalyptica is a Finnish cello-metal band formed in Helsinki in 1993 by classically trained cellists. The group became known through its 1996 debut, Plays Metallica by Four Cellos. Albums including Cult, Reflections and Worlds Collide established its original instrumental work and vocal collaborations, among them “I Don’t Care” with Adam Gontier. In 2005, Apocalyptica supported Rammstein on the Reise, Reise Tour, followed by an interval performance at the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest. The 2013 project Wagner Reloaded paired the band with the MDR Symphony Orchestra at Arena Leipzig. Beginning in 2017, the Plays Metallica by Four Cellos anniversary tour presented the debut album in full.
