Artists
Marcus King is an American singer, songwriter and guitarist born in 1996 in Greenville, South Carolina. He plays blues rock, soul and Southern rock, first recording as the leader of Marcus King Band before releasing solo albums including El Dorado, Young Blood and Mood Swings. His best-known songs include “The Well,” “Wildflowers & Wine” and “Hard Working Man.” In 2020, Marcus King and his band performed the four-show Four of a Kind livestream series at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium; recordings from those performances were later issued as Live at the Ryman. He toured North America and Europe on the 2022 Young Blood Tour, followed by further dates in both regions on the 2024 Mood Swings World Tour.
MonoNeon is the stage name of Dywane Thomas Jr., an American bassist, guitarist and singer-songwriter born in Memphis in 1990. He plays funk and psychedelic rock shaped by microtonality and an upside-down, left-handed approach to bass. He worked with Prince during the final phase of Prince’s career and contributed bass to Nas’s Grammy-winning album King’s Disease. Prince brought MonoNeon into his band in 2015, leading to rehearsals and performances at Paisley Park. He later toured as a member of the funk ensemble Ghost-Note while developing his own full-band concerts. That solo live format was documented in an NPR Music Tiny Desk concert.
