Austra in Leipzig

Austra is a Canadian electronic music project formed in Toronto in 2009 and led by singer, songwriter and classically trained vocalist Katie Stelmanis. Its synth-led pop is known through the debut album Feel It Break and songs including “Beat and the Pulse” and “Lose It”; later albums include Olympia, Future Politics and Hirudin. In 2010, Austra supported The xx on a North American tour, followed by international club and festival dates after Feel It Break. Tours around Olympia and Future Politics presented the material through a changing electronic-band lineup centered on Katie Stelmanis’s vocals and keyboards. The project has taken its catalogue to Coachella in Indio and Primavera Sound in Barcelona.
