É O Tchan in Belo Horizonte

É o Tchan is a Brazilian axé and pagode baiano group formed in Salvador in 1992 under the name Gera Samba. The group became known for percussion-led dance songs and tightly choreographed routines, particularly “Segura o Tchan,” “Dança do Bumbum” and “Ralando o Tchan.” É o Tchan performed on trio elétrico trucks during the city’s Carnival as its songs spread across Brazil in the 1990s. Singers Beto Jamaica and Compadre Washington fronted a stage format built around a band and choreographed dancers, while former members Carla Perez, Scheila Carvalho and Sheila Mello became closely associated with its shows. The group later revisited that repertoire on the É o Tchan 30 Anos tour.
