Beres Hammond in Duluth

Beres Hammond is a Jamaican reggae singer and songwriter born in Annotto Bay in 1955. After singing with the band Zap Pow, he built a solo catalogue rooted in lovers rock, reggae and soul. His best-known songs include “What One Dance Can Do,” “Tempted to Touch,” “Putting Up Resistance,” “Rockaway” and “I Feel Good.” In 2001, Beres Hammond released Live from New York, a document of the full-band format that has defined his concerts. He has also returned repeatedly to Reggae Sumfest in Montego Bay, where the 2019 festival included an onstage reunion with his “Pull It Up” collaborator Buju Banton.
