Bobby Chen in Kuala Lumpur

Bobby Chen is a Taiwanese singer-songwriter and producer, born in 1958, whose music encompasses Mandopop, rock and folk-rooted songwriting. He made his recording debut with the 1988 album 擁擠的樂園 and is closely associated with songs including 把悲傷留給自己 (“Leave Sadness to Myself”) and 北京一夜 (“One Night in Beijing”). Beginning in 1994, he established an annual New Year’s Eve concert in Taipei as the central tradition of his live career. These full-band shows draw on his solo catalogue and material connected to New Formosa Band.
