Buddy Guy in Shipshewana

Buddy Guy is an American blues singer, guitarist and songwriter, born in Lettsworth, Louisiana, in 1936. A leading voice of Chicago blues, he became known through Chess recordings including “First Time I Met the Blues” and “Stone Crazy,” then reached a wider rock audience with the album and title song “Damn Right, I’ve Got the Blues.” His 1974 performance with Junior Wells at the Montreux Jazz Festival was released as the live album Drinkin’ TNT ’n’ Smokin’ Dynamite. He later opened Buddy Guy’s Legends in 1989 and established annual January concert runs at the club. In 2023 he began the Damn Right Farewell Tour, announced as his final extensive tour.
