Burning Spear in Utrecht

Burning Spear is the roots-reggae act led by Jamaican singer Winston Rodney, who formed the original vocal group in 1969 and later continued under the name as a solo artist. The album Marcus Garvey and songs including “Slavery Days” and “The Invasion” established the act’s enduring repertoire. A 1977 concert at London’s Rainbow Theatre was recorded for the album Live, documenting Burning Spear’s full-band stage sound. Burning Spear appeared in the 1981 concert film Reggae Sunsplash and later performed at Woodstock ’94.
