Caetano Veloso in Curitiba

Caetano Veloso is a Brazilian singer, songwriter and guitarist, born in Santo Amaro, Bahia, in 1942. He helped shape Tropicália in the late 1960s and is known for songs including “Alegria, Alegria,” “Sampa” and “Você É Linda,” as well as albums such as Transa and Livro. At Carnegie Hall in 2004, Caetano Veloso performed a joint concert with David Byrne that was later issued as a live album. In 2015, he joined Gilberto Gil for the international Dois Amigos, Um Século de Música tour, presenting songs from their intertwined careers in a guitar-and-voice format; the project also produced a concert album recorded at the Barbican Centre in London.
