Califone is an American experimental rock band formed in Chicago in 1997 by singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Tim Rutili after Red Red Meat disbanded. The group plays experimental folk and indie rock shaped by acoustic instruments, electronics and found sounds. Its key albums include Roomsound, Quicksand/Cradlesnakes, Roots & Crowns and All My Friends Are Funeral Singers. In 2010, Califone toured a film-and-live-music presentation of All My Friends Are Funeral Singers after the film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. The band has also toured clubs and theatres across North America and Europe, using changing lineups centered on Tim Rutili.
