Carlos Núñez in Cadaqués

Carlos Núñez is a Spanish musician from Galicia, born in Vigo in 1971, who plays the gaita, flutes and recorders. He became known beyond Galician traditional music through his work with The Chieftains and recordings including his debut album A Irmandade das Estrelas, Os Amores Libres and Mayo Longo. As a teenager, Carlos Núñez performed at the Festival Interceltique de Lorient, where he met Paddy Moloney; their connection led to recording and international concert work with The Chieftains. His later concert history includes Carnegie Hall and repeated appearances at the Festival de Ortigueira, a major gathering for Celtic music in Galicia.
