Carminho in Rio de Janeiro

Carminho is a Portuguese fado singer, born in Lisbon in 1984. She established her recording career with the albums Fado, Alma and Canto, then explored Brazilian songwriting on Carminho Canta Tom Jobim. Her later work includes Portuguesa and “O Quarto,” which she performed in Yorgos Lanthimos’s film Poor Things. Carminho has performed at the Barbican in London and Carnegie Hall in New York. Her concerts center on her voice and an acoustic ensemble featuring Portuguese guitar, classical guitar and bass, a format also used for her festival appearance at WOMAD.
