Ce Ce Peniston in Atlanta

CeCe Peniston is an American dance and R&B singer born in Dayton and raised in Phoenix. She became known in the early 1990s through “Finally,” the title track of her debut album, followed by songs including “We Got a Love Thang,” “Keep On Walkin’” and “I’m in the Mood.” Her early live appearances included a performance at Aretha Franklin’s birthday celebration and inaugural events for Bill Clinton. She has also sung for Pope John Paul II, while later concerts have placed her 1990s repertoire at dance-music events and Pride celebrations.
