Artists
Cherry Poppin' Daddies are an American band formed in Eugene, Oregon, in 1989. Their music covers swing, ska, punk and rock, and they are best known for the compilation album Zoot Suit Riot and its title song, which became associated with the late-1990s swing revival. The band played dates on the 1998 Warped Tour while touring behind Zoot Suit Riot, taking its horn-driven repertoire beyond the Pacific Northwest club circuit into larger theatres. After a hiatus in the early 2000s, the group resumed performing in clubs, theatres and at ska festivals. Cherry Poppin' Daddies perform as a full band with a prominent horn section, moving between swing arrangements and faster ska and punk material. The set is led by singer and songwriter Steve Perry.
Davina and The Vagabonds is an American jazz and blues band formed in Minneapolis by pianist and singer Davina Sowers. Its music draws on swing, early jazz and rhythm and blues, heard across albums including Black Cloud, Sunshine, Sugar Drops and Shoot for the Moon. Davina and The Vagabonds have toured clubs, theatres and festivals across the United States and Europe. The band also performed on the BBC music program Later... with Jools Holland, bringing its piano-led ensemble to a British television audience. The live group centers on Sowers at the piano and microphone, backed by rhythm and horn sections. Its festival appearances include the Monterey Jazz Festival and Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
