Dash Rip Rock is an American cowpunk and roots-rock band formed in New Orleans in 1984 by singer and guitarist Bill Davis. Its music draws on rockabilly, country and punk, and its catalog includes the albums Dash Rip Rock and Ace of Clubs, as well as the irreverent song “Let’s Go Smoke Some Pot.” Dash Rip Rock spent much of its early career touring the American club circuit, and the live album Boiled Alive! documented the band’s stage set. The group also built a long home-city performance history through appearances at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
