Daymé Arocena in Barcelona

Daymé Arocena is a Cuban singer and songwriter, born in Havana in 1992, who performs Afro-Cuban jazz, soul and R&B. She became known outside Cuba through her work with Jane Bunnett’s Maqueque and her debut album, Nueva Era. Her later records include Cubafonía, Sonocardiogram and Alkemi. At her 2016 NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert in Washington, D.C., Arocena performed with piano, bass and percussion. Her festival appearances have also included Glastonbury Festival and the North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam.
