DevilDriver is an American groove-metal band formed in Santa Barbara, California, in 2002 by vocalist Dez Fafara after Coal Chamber went on hiatus. Their catalog combines tightly syncopated riffs with thrash and melodic death-metal elements, particularly on albums such as The Fury of Our Maker’s Hand and The Last Kind Words. “Hold Back the Day” and “Clouds Over California” are among their best-known songs. DevilDriver played Ozzfest in 2004 and appeared at Download Festival in 2007, where Fafara organized a widely reported circle pit during the band’s set. In 2008 they joined Opeth, Arch Enemy and 3 Inches of Blood for Metal Hammer’s Defenders of the Faith tour.
