Helmet in Pittsburgh

Helmet is an American alternative-metal band formed in New York City in 1989 by singer and guitarist Page Hamilton. Its tightly syncopated riffs and abrupt rhythms became central to albums such as Meantime and Betty, while “Unsung,” “In the Meantime” and “Milquetoast” remain among its best-known songs. Helmet performed on the second stage of Lollapalooza in 1993 during the touring cycle that followed Meantime. After the band broke up in 1998, Hamilton re-formed it in 2004 and returned to the road behind Size Matters. Later tours revisited earlier records in full, and the 2019 30th Anniversary Tour marked three decades of Helmet with sets drawn across its catalogue.
