Earthless in Santa Cruz

Earthless are an American psychedelic rock trio formed in San Diego in 2001. Long, largely instrumental guitar pieces established their sound on albums including Sonic Prayer, Rhythms from a Cosmic Sky and From the Ages, while Black Heaven brought vocals into more compact songs. At Roadburn Festival in 2008, Earthless played an extended set that was issued as Live at Roadburn. Their long-form concert approach was documented again by Live in the Mojave Desert, an outdoor performance recorded in the California desert. Earthless perform as a power trio, using recurring riffs and improvisation to stretch compositions beyond their studio versions. The lineup is guitarist Isaiah Mitchell, bassist Mike Eginton and drummer Mario Rubalcaba.
