Ed Motta in Curitiba

Ed Motta is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, keyboardist and producer, born in Rio de Janeiro in 1971. He makes soul, funk, jazz and MPB, first recording with Conexão Japeri on the 1988 song “Manuel.” His solo catalog includes Manual Prático para Festas, Bailes e Afins, AOR and Perpetual Gateways. Ed Motta has performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival and the North Sea Jazz Festival, singing and playing keyboards with his band. For NPR Music’s Tiny Desk in Washington, D.C., he presented his songs in a compact ensemble built around keyboards, guitar, bass and drums.
