Edoardo Bennato in Empoli

Edoardo Bennato is an Italian singer-songwriter and rock musician, born in Naples in 1946. His songs draw on folk rock and direct, satirical storytelling, often accompanied by guitar and harmonica. He is best known for the albums Burattino senza fili and Sono solo canzonette, and for songs including “Il gatto e la volpe,” “L’isola che non c’è,” “Un giorno credi” and “Viva la mamma.” In 1980, the tour behind Sono solo canzonette took him into Italian stadiums. Performing as a singer-guitarist and harmonica player backed by a rock band, he played Milan’s San Siro, a landmark in his live history.
