Eppu Normaali in Tampere

Eppu Normaali is a Finnish rock band formed in Ylöjärvi in 1976. Emerging from punk and new wave, the group developed a melodic, Finnish-language rock sound heard on albums including Akun tehdas and Kahdeksas ihme. Its best-known songs include “Murheellisten laulujen maa,” “Vuonna ’85” and “Kitara, taivas ja tähdet.” The 1981 Tuuliajolla tour took Eppu Normaali, Hassisen Kone and Juice Leskinen Slam around Lake Saimaa and became the subject of Mika Kaurismäki’s concert film Saimaa-ilmiö. Decades later, the band marked its 40th anniversary with a stadium concert in Tampere in 2016 at Ratina Stadium.
