Fulu Miziki in Bristol

Fulu Miziki is a Congolese collective formed in Kinshasa, known for percussion-driven dance music, an Afrofuturist visual identity and instruments built from discarded materials. The group’s recorded work includes the Ngbaka EP and tracks such as “Toko Yambana” and “Ngbaka.” The collective developed its performance style in Kinshasa before taking its homemade instruments and sculptural costumes to Nyege Nyege Festival in Uganda. Its live sets are played as an ensemble, using percussion, voices and electronics; later festival appearances included Glastonbury and Roskilde Festival.
