George Lam in Shenzhen

George Lam is a Hong Kong singer-songwriter and actor, born in 1947, whose work helped shape Cantonese pop. His best-known songs include “Need You Every Minute,” “Dare to Love, Dare to Do” and “A Man Should Strengthen Himself,” while the rapid-fire medley “10:12” became another signature recording. During the 1980s, he began presenting major concert runs at the Hong Kong Coliseum and returned to the arena repeatedly over the following decades. In 2016, he marked four decades as a recording artist with the George Lam 40th Anniversary Concert.
