HAUSER in Tartu

HAUSER is the stage name of Stjepan Hauser, a Croatian cellist who plays classical crossover and cello arrangements of pop and rock music. He became widely known as one half of 2CELLOS after the duo’s version of Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal” attracted attention online; their repertoire also includes “Thunderstruck.” His solo album Classic focuses on works by composers including Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff. In 2011, 2CELLOS joined Elton John on tour and opened concerts for him, beginning years of international touring by the duo. In 2020, HAUSER filmed the solo performance Alone, Together at the empty Arena Pula, where his programme moved between classical pieces and pop and rock arrangements.
