Hot 8 Brass Band in Birmingham

Hot 8 Brass Band is an American brass band formed in New Orleans in 1995. The group plays jazz, funk and hip-hop through the city’s brass-band tradition, and is known for its version of Marvin Gaye’s “Sexual Healing” and albums including Rock with the Hot 8 and The Life & Times Of... The group began by performing at second-line parades, jazz funerals and community events. It later carried that repertoire onto international tours and festival stages, including Glastonbury Festival and WOMAD. Hot 8 Brass Band performs as a horn-and-percussion ensemble, using trumpets, trombones, saxophone, sousaphone, drums, vocals and rap. UK tours have repeatedly brought the group to London and Manchester.
