Artist
Hudba Praha is a Czech alternative-rock band formed in 1984 by musicians from Jasná Páka after the communist authorities restricted the earlier group’s performances. Guitarist and songwriter Michal Ambrož became its central figure, while saxophonist Karel Malík helped shape a sound marked by alternating male and female vocals. Its best-known songs include “Máma táta,” “Špinavý záda,” “Pal vocuď” and “Marihuana.” In 1984, the musicians adopted the Hudba Praha name to return to public concert stages. The band spent the following decades playing Czech clubs and festivals, presenting Ambrož’s songs through guitars, saxophone and its characteristic vocal lineup. The Ambrož-led incarnation ended its run in 2015 with a farewell concert at Lucerna Music Bar in Prague.
