Ja Rule is an American rapper and singer from Queens, New York, born Jeffrey Atkins in 1976. His work with Murder Inc. paired a gravelly rap delivery with R&B hooks on albums including Rule 3:36 and Pain Is Love. He is known for “Always on Time” and “Mesmerize” with Ashanti, “Between Me and You” with Christina Milian, and Jennifer Lopez’s “I’m Real (Murder Remix).” In 1999, Ja Rule joined Jay-Z’s Hard Knock Life Tour alongside DMX, Method Man and Redman. He and Ashanti later co-headlined the Natural Born Hitters Tour in 2014. In 2021, he faced Fat Joe in a Verzuz event at Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden.
