Jason Isbell in Forest Grove

Jason Isbell is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist, born in Green Hill, Alabama, in 1979. He played with Drive-By Truckers before building a solo catalogue rooted in country, Americana and Southern rock. His best-known work includes the albums Southeastern and Something More Than Free, and the songs “Cover Me Up,” “24 Frames” and “If We Were Vampires.” In 2012, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit recorded concerts in Birmingham and Huntsville that became Live from Alabama. A 2017 run at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium supplied the performances for Live from the Ryman, documenting the full-band format that became central to his headline shows. In 2019, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit undertook a co-headlining North American tour with Father John Misty.
