Jesse Malin in Wilmington

Jesse Malin is an American singer-songwriter from New York whose music draws on punk rock, roots rock and Americana. He first became known as the frontman of D Generation before beginning a solo career with The Fine Art of Self Destruction, produced by Ryan Adams and featuring songs including “Wendy” and “Brooklyn.” His later records include Glitter in the Gutter, Sunset Kids and Sad and Beautiful World. Tours behind his solo albums took him through clubs and theatres in North America and Britain, performing with a backing band and drawing on both his solo catalogue and punk roots. A spinal stroke halted his performances in 2023, but he returned to the stage in 2024 at the Celebrating Jesse Malin benefit, where Lucinda Williams, Elvis Costello and other guests took part at New York’s Beacon Theatre.
