Johnny Rawls in Chicago

Johnny Rawls is an American soul-blues singer, guitarist, songwriter and producer from Mississippi. His music draws on Southern soul and electric blues, and his catalog includes the albums Memphis Still Got Soul, Ace of Spades and I'm Still Around. In the 1970s, he toured as guitarist and bandleader for soul singer O.V. Wright, an association that lasted until Wright's death in 1980. Rawls then kept the band working and later led Little Johnny Taylor's touring group before establishing his own career as a bandleader and recording artist.
