Keiko Matsui in Minneapolis

Keiko Matsui is a Japanese pianist and composer, born in 1961, whose instrumental music draws on contemporary jazz, smooth jazz and new age. She began her solo discography with A Drop of Water and became known through albums including Dream Walk and Deep Blue; later releases include The Road... and Echo. Keiko Matsui has played repeated engagements at Yoshi’s in Oakland and Jazz Alley in Seattle, part of a long concert history in North American jazz clubs and performing-arts venues. She leads the music from piano with a band, drawing sets from across her instrumental catalogue. Far from Tokyo, she has performed at the Birchmere in Alexandria and Blue Note Hawaii in Honolulu.
