Kid Capri in Newport

Kid Capri is an American DJ, rapper and producer from the Bronx whose mixtapes established his name in New York hip-hop. His recorded work includes the albums The Tape and Soundtrack to the Streets, and he produced Jay-Z’s “It’s Like That.” During the 1990s, he served as the resident DJ for HBO’s Def Comedy Jam, combining turntable work with on-mic introductions and transitions. He later brought that format to theatres, arenas and hip-hop package shows, including a 2023 performance at Hip Hop 50 Live at Yankee Stadium.
