Kid Congo & the Pink Monkey Birds in San Diego

Kid Congo & the Pink Monkey Birds are an American garage-rock band formed in New York in 2006 by guitarist and singer Kid Congo Powers. Powers had previously played in The Gun Club, The Cramps and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds; his own band is known for psychedelic, lo-fi rock on albums including Dracula Boots, Gorilla Rose, Haunted Head and La Araña Es La Vida. After Dracula Boots, Kid Congo & the Pink Monkey Birds toured clubs and festivals across North America and Europe, then returned to the road behind subsequent records including Gorilla Rose and Haunted Head. Their concerts are full-band performances led by Powers on guitar and vocals, and setlists have included Pink Monkey Birds songs as well as “Sex Beat” by The Gun Club and “New Kind of Kick” by The Cramps.
