David Ellefson is an American bassist and a co-founder of Megadeth, formed in Los Angeles in 1983. Born in Jackson, Minnesota, in 1964, he is known for his bass work on thrash-metal albums including Peace Sells... but Who’s Buying?, Rust in Peace and Countdown to Extinction. David Ellefson toured with Megadeth on the 1990–91 Clash of the Titans dates, which paired the band with Slayer and Anthrax on different legs. After returning to Megadeth in 2010, he performed at the first Big Four concert at Sonisphere Festival in Warsaw, followed by another Big Four show at Yankee Stadium in 2011. In 2022, he formed Kings of Thrash with former Megadeth guitarist Jeff Young to perform material from the band’s early albums.
