Artist
Igor Levit is a Russian-born German classical pianist, born in Gorky in 1987 and raised in Germany. He is known particularly for his interpretations of Beethoven, Bach and Frederic Rzewski. His major recording projects include the complete Beethoven piano sonatas and On DSCH, built around works by Shostakovich and Ronald Stevenson. When concert halls closed in 2020, he broadcast a series of house concerts online from his home in Berlin. Later that year, he performed all 32 Beethoven piano sonatas across eight recitals at the Salzburg Festival.
