Kool Keith is an American rapper from the Bronx and a founding member of Ultramagnetic MCs. Known for abstract wordplay and a cast of alter egos, he helped make the group’s Critical Beatdown a touchstone of experimental hip-hop, then expanded his catalogue through Dr. Octagonecologyst, Sex Style and Black Elvis/Lost in Space. At Coachella in 2017, he performed as Dr. Octagon alongside producer Dan the Automator and turntablist DJ Qbert. His solo concerts pair his rapping with a DJ, drawing on solo records, Dr. Octagon tracks and material by Ultramagnetic MCs.
