Ana Tijoux in Santiago

Ana Tijoux is a Chilean rapper and singer, born in Lille in 1977 to Chilean parents living in exile. She recorded with the Santiago hip-hop group Makiza before beginning her solo career. Her best-known work includes the album 1977, its title track, and the songs “Shock,” “Somos Sur” and “Antipatriarca” from Vengo. In 2014, Ana Tijoux performed material from Vengo at NPR Music’s Tiny Desk in Washington, D.C., accompanied by a compact live band. She followed that appearance in 2015 with a performance at Coachella.
