Liturgy is an American experimental metal band founded in Brooklyn by guitarist and composer Haela Ravenna Hunt-Hendrix. The group calls its music “transcendental black metal,” using rapid guitar figures, extreme percussion, electronics and contemporary-classical composition. Its best-known records include Aesthethica, The Ark Work and 93696. In 2011, Liturgy performed at Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago and Roadburn Festival in Tilburg during the touring cycle for Aesthethica. The concerts use a full-band setup centered on the guitar and vocals of Haela Ravenna Hunt-Hendrix.
