Louis Cato is an American multi-instrumentalist, singer and bandleader who was born in Lisbon and raised in North Carolina. He plays jazz, R&B, soul and pop, and is known for leading The Late Show Band as well as for the solo albums Starting Now and Reflections. In 2015, Cato joined Jon Batiste and Stay Human as the house band on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, playing drums, bass, guitar and other instruments. He succeeded Batiste as bandleader in 2022, directing The Late Show Band’s performances at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York.
