About Major Lazer
Major Lazer is an American electronic music project formed in 2008 by Diplo and Switch, built around dancehall, reggae and electronic pop. Later lineups have included Walshy Fire, Jillionaire and Ape Drums. The group is known for the albums Guns Don’t Kill People... Lazers Do and Peace Is the Mission, and for tracks including “Pon de Floor,” “Lean On” with MØ and DJ Snake, and “Cold Water” with Justin Bieber and MØ.
The 2013 Free the Universe world tour included performances at Coachella and Glastonbury. In 2016, Major Lazer staged a free concert at the Tribuna José Martí in Havana, after diplomatic relations between Cuba and the United States had been restored. The Havana concert became the subject of the documentary Give Me Future.
