Mariza in Hamburg

Mariza is a Portuguese fado singer, born in Mozambique in 1973 and raised in Lisbon’s Mouraria district. Her debut album, Fado em Mim, introduced a repertoire that includes “Ó Gente da Minha Terra” and “Chuva”; later records include Transparente, Terra and Mundo. A 2003 concert at Union Chapel was filmed for Live in London. Two years later, her performance beside the Belém Tower became the concert release Concerto em Lisboa, and she subsequently brought her fado repertoire to halls including the Royal Albert Hall and Sydney Opera House.
