Matthew Whitaker in Alexandria

Matthew Whitaker is an American jazz pianist, organist and composer, born in Hackensack, New Jersey, in 2001. Blind since birth, he became known as a young keyboard player and has recorded the albums Outta the Box, Now Hear This and Connections. At age ten, he performed during Stevie Wonder’s induction into the Apollo Theater Hall of Fame. He later appeared in the concert-hall settings of Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center, while his ensemble has also performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival and Newport Jazz Festival.
