Max Richter in Lappeenranta

Max Richter is a German-born British composer and pianist who writes contemporary classical music using strings, piano and ambient electronics. Born in 1966, he is known for the albums Memoryhouse, The Blue Notebooks and the eight-hour Sleep, the composition “On the Nature of Daylight,” and Recomposed by Max Richter: Vivaldi, The Four Seasons. In 2015, Max Richter gave the first full overnight performance of Sleep at the Wellcome Collection in London, where beds were provided for listeners during the eight-hour work. Sleep subsequently became a recurring concert project, including an outdoor overnight performance at Grand Park in Los Angeles in 2018.
