Artist
Meridian Brothers is a Colombian experimental tropical-music project founded in Bogotá by composer and multi-instrumentalist Eblis Álvarez in 1998. Its music reshapes cumbia, salsa and vallenato through electronic production, altered vocals and off-centre guitar parts. Key releases include Desesperanza, ¿Dónde estás María?, Cumbia Siglo XXI and Meridian Brothers & El Grupo Renacimiento. The project expanded into a five-piece live band in 2007 and went on to tour Europe and the Americas. The ensemble has brought Álvarez’s studio arrangements to festival stages including Roskilde Festival and WOMAD.
