Mônica Salmaso in Porto Alegre

Mônica Salmaso is a Brazilian singer born in São Paulo in 1971, known for her interpretations of MPB, samba and the Brazilian songbook. Her recordings include Alma Lírica Brasileira, Corpo de Baile, built around songs by Guinga and Paulo César Pinheiro, and Caipira, a collection rooted in rural Brazilian repertoire. Alma Lírica Brasileira was recorded before an audience at Auditório Ibirapuera, where she performed with pianist Nelson Ayres and multi-instrumentalist Teco Cardoso. She later brought her voice-led acoustic ensemble to an NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert in Washington, D.C.
