Artist
Monty Alexander is a Jamaican jazz pianist, born in Kingston in 1944, who plays jazz shaped by bebop, swing, calypso and reggae. His recordings include Ivory & Steel and Stir It Up: The Music of Bob Marley. At the 1976 Montreux Jazz Festival, he led the trio performance released as Montreux Alexander. Decades later, he brought a jazz trio together with Jamaican musicians for a touring project documented on Harlem-Kingston Express Vol. 1: Live!.
